Winterizing Your Honda

October 29th, 2020 by

As the days get shorter and the winds get colder, the temperatures will begin to drop. Winter will be here before you know it. To help you safely navigate the cold season, consider the following maintenance tips for winterizing your Honda.

Test and Replace the Battery

If your Honda car’s battery is several years old, be sure to stop by Hillside Honda’s Service Center to test it as they can be surprisingly fickle. The cold weather could take a toll on batteries and usually won’t operate if they are old and in super cold conditions.

Update Your Wiper Blades

Your visibility is extremely vital while driving. Winter’s harsh conditions can make it quite difficult to see while driving. Replacing the windshield wiper blades can help to ensure good visibility while driving. You can purchase Wiper Blades at our Hillside Honda Parts Department.

Check The Tires

Your tires play a vital role while driving. They help to prevent slips and slides while driving in Winter’s harsh conditions. Make sure your tires are properly inflated(check your owner’s manual for specific psi adjustments); there are no signs of buldges, blisters or tears; and, there is a good amount of thread of the tires.

In addition to the tips listed above, be sure to check your heater and defroster to make sure they are working properly. Top off your windshield wiper fluid and make sure you have to correct amount of antifreeze as well. You should also have an emergency kit with items necessary for the cold weather – ice scrapper, blanket, perishable food, extra pair of gloves and a hat, road flares if possible.
